I was reading one of my favorite blogs today and found out that CC Deville guitarist for Poison ( I love 80’s hair metal) is a new Christ follower. How cool is it that I might get to live next freakin door to CC Deville in heaven??? You know me and CC hanging out on the patio out by the pool in the backyard of my heavenly estate (yes I believe there are swimming pools in heaven) me killin my electric guitar (everyone that knows me knows I don’t know how to play guitar but in heaven we all know how because the electric guitar is Jesus’s favorite instrument) to some As the Deer Panteth (insert sound of squealing brakes here). What’s all that snickering??? Stop that, you know as well as I do that we only sing from hymnals in heaven, right? What, you mean I’m not right? This is going to devistate my wife, she of all people knows that I am always right.
I digress. I think that it is awesome for anyone to become a Christ follower, I also think it is awesome for you to be able to use the influence you have for furthering the Kingdom. I think it is extremely wise for someone in CC’s position to ask for help in how to use his influence to impact the public for Christ and to also help him live for Christ in his secular job. If you read Pete’s post about this and watched the video I think you would see a new found man in Christ and would pray for him. I think it is awesome for CC to ask Pete if he would be available to talk when he needed him, the same thing Pete would do for anyone else.
What kills me is when other Christians attack Pete or anyone else for that matter for following Christ’s example. All to often we want to criticize other Pastors and leaders for doing what they know to be right and for following the holy spirit in doing it. Not to long ago my own Pastor, Dave was attacked by several “religious” groups and websites for meeting in a movie theater, calling his wife hot, allowing rock and roll to be used during worship, eating, breathing, living, whatever else they could call him a heretic for. They used that word to describe Dave, who I consider one of the most Godly men I know. They even attacked his wife because he did say she was hot. When did it become wrong to think your wife is desirable? What happened to uplifting our Pastors, praying for our leaders. We have got to quit tearing each other down. A house divided will surely fall, we all love the same Jesus. We have got to get out of the my Baptist Jesus can beat up you Non-Denom Jesus mind set. Pray for your pastor today, because he endures things that we will never hear about and see. He is held to a much higher standard than any of us and that alone is enough to break a man down.
P.S. Nick Carnes has a great take on why people attack other people’s blogs. This guy is rockin it with the youths down in Georgia and makin a difference for Jesus.
